As a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), I know our bodies and minds are very closely connected to each other. Being out of alignment in one area can, and will, directly affect other areas.
I worked in primarily office settings the majority of my adult life, and after some time, my body started to break down on me. It wasn’t working properly, and caused me chronic back pain resulting in back surgery at just 31 years old. I was frustrated when seemingly simple, everyday tasks caused me so much pain. It disrupted my day-to-day life, and seriously lowered the quality of it.
From this, I learned that the human body was not meant to be sedentary. We’re meant to move. And with this realization came the desire to heal not just myself, but others as well. Healing massage can promote a better quality of life in countless ways.
I enjoy working with my clients to get long lasting pain relief, better range of motion, and working toward overall muscle health. A few ways I accomplish this aside from massage, is by; taking clients through assisted stretching techniques, cupping, using hot stones, gua sha (muscle scraping), utilizing aromatherapy, etc.
Self-care should be at the root of caring for others, and healing our bodies can also heal our minds and souls (and vice versa).
